FDA approves AZOR

Azor
The United States food and drug adminstration (FDA) approved Azor as first line treatment for high sever blood pressure. AZOR is formulated by Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. It’s a combination of Amlodipine as Amlodipine besylate and Olmesartan medoxomil. It’s prescribed for patients suffering from high blood pressure that can’t be controlled by the normal single antihypertensive theraby. Similar to Exforge AZOR consists of two main antihypertensive classes, Calcium channel blockers and Angiotensin II antagonists, Amlodipine acts by inhibiting calcium ion influx to cells resulting in decreasing contractility so vasodilation and Olmesartan acts by blocking of Angiotensin II receptors inhibiting Angiotensin from exterting its vasoconstriction effect on blood vessels.
AZOR is highly contraindicated in pregnant women as it causes malformation to the fetus and may be death so if you expecting pregnancy soon consult your doctor to change Azor medication to other safe antihypertensive medication.
Azor is also contraindicated in patients having kidney or heart problems
